Support For Providers
Leeds Adult Learning Support for Providers
The Leeds City Council Adult Learning provision has been assessed as Good by Ofsted (2017) and we are constantly working to not only retain this standard but to exceed it. Our aim is to become an outstanding adult learning provider and provide the best possible learning experience for our learners. To support this ambition, we offer a range of support for providers including:
Our web site - Digital Platform for Adult Learning
You can use the website to download a range of support documents such as the Provider Handbook, toolkits, and Forum information as well as a range of policies and procedural documents which are needed to support delivery of your programme. There is also provision for a Provider Forum where you can pose questions, ask for information from all programme managers as well as the Adult Learning team.
Provider Handbook and Monitoring timetable
These are two key documents which will guide you through contract delivery. The handbook has been designed to support both providers and tutors in our aspiration and journey towards delivering “Outstanding” learning opportunities through our Adult Learning programmes. It is a comprehensive reference document giving details of the management, administrative requirements and the quality standards and processes we expect to see for all classes.
Toolkits
These are reference documents which provide further detailed information, guidance and practical suggestions you can use and cover specific areas of teaching and learning. They are reviewed regularly, and we are refreshing them following the publication of the new Education Inspection Framework and the Further Education and Skills Handbook.
Monthly drop in sessions
The dates for the full year are published in the tutor handbook. We offer a monthly drop in session at Technorth, where anyone working on the framework can book a slot and ask the team about anything they would like support with. To book a slot, please e-mail us and let us know the topic you wish to talk about so we can ensure that the appropriate member of the team is available to support you.
Monthly workshops
Running alongside the drop in sessions (same day/time) these short workshops offer support on a range of topics and will supplement the Tutor Toolkits and Forums. Topics will be circulated to your manager at the start of each term.
Provider Forum
Running each September, the Provider Forum is a great way to meet other programme managers as well as take part in a range of activities aimed at supporting improvements in delivery and keeping you up to date with all things Adult Learning.
Coaching Support
Coaching can be a very useful tool to support professional and career development by helping you to reflect on your experience, consider your future development, deal with new and potentially challenging situations, and plan for the future. We can now offer this as part of our CPD offer. If you would like to benefit from this short supportive intervention, contact David Watson for more details.
Recruitment Support
There are benefits to sharing staff across the Adult Learning framework; staff are experienced and already knowledgeable about Leeds City Council’s Adult Learning programme and as a result will already be up to speed on our expectations so you will need to spend less time on training; sessional staff, particularly tutors can build an employment base to fit around their life and family commitments, thus securing themselves financially which is likely to mean less tutor turn over; a stable pool of staff supports a quality provision where everyone knows what is expected of them; sharing of best practise is embedded into delivery models
