STEMFest 2026

Leeds came alive last week as STEMFest returned, transforming Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths into a hands-on experience for over 2,000 young people.

STEMFest is all about bringing ideas to life. The event connects schools with employers and professionals through interactive workshops, live demonstrations, exhibitions and practical activities designed to spark curiosity and show what future careers in STEM can look like.

Supported by Leeds City Council's Employment and Skills service and delivered by RTC North, the festival welcomed pupils from Years 5 and 6 in primary school, and Years 7 and 8 in secondary.

Across the event, young people got stuck into hands-on activities, explored new technologies, and spoke directly with industry professionals working in sectors such as engineering, manufacturing, energy, space, environment and travel. More than 2,000 students attended, with over 50 employers on site.

Exhibitors included Mott MacDonald Bentley, Northern Gas Networks. Galliford Try, Yorkshire Water, Kier Group, Kids Invent Stuff, Louno Space, Space Hub Yorkshire, Sheffield Eco Motorsport, Boulby Underground Laboratory, Cummins and Lloyd Bank, alongside many more.
