Leeds Anchors Event

An event bringing together Leeds Anchors with Leeds Business Anchors for the first time took place on the 21st March at Nexus, Leeds. Attendees heard about the impact of the Anchors networks and explored in more depth how we might support our priority neighbourhoods more effectively and act together on mental health.

Outstanding Ofsted Judgement

Following an Ofsted inspection in December 2023, the council became the first local authority to achieve an Outstanding judgement for its Adult Learning and Apprenticeship programmes since the new Education Inspection Framework commenced in September 2019.

West Yorkshire Transport Upgrades

Plans for a Mass Transit tram system have been approved at a meeting of West Yorkshire's leaders, with phase one proposed to include a Leeds Line and Bradford Line. Proposals for bus reform have also been approved meaning West Yorkshire Combined Authority will control buses through franchising. 

Leeds Crane Survey 2024

According to the most recent Deloitte Crane Survey which showcases major developments during 2023, despite Leeds seeing a rebalancing of construction activity following previous years of record-breaking development, activity remains strong in the city centre.

Yorkshire Sustainability Festival

The biggest gathering of sustainability in the north of England is taking place in June 2024 for the second year in a row. Events will epitomise the importance of collaboration and sharing key learnings, with businesses invited to get involved and host their own fringe events. 

Northern Max Business Accelerator 

Registrations for The Northern Max Accelerator business support programme are now open. This 10-week structured programme is aimed at tech-focused new businesses in Leeds and Bradford, who want to accelerate their growth and pitch for potential investment. Closing date for applications is 31st March.

Leeds Manufacturing Festival

An extended, year-round programme of events for Leeds' seventh Manufacturing Festival launched in February, highlighting career opportunities for young people in the region's manufacturing sector. A launch event at Leeds City College included keynote speeches from Boeing Defence UK and Make UK's national apprenticeship training academy.

Health and Wellbeing Resources for Businesses

The council's Public Health Resource Centre (PHRC) is calling on all businesses in the city to sign up to access free resources and signposting to encourage good health and wellbeing in the workplace.
